The Mango Lassie

Empanada Boy’s Surprise

August 13, 2007 · Filed under Cannon Beach, OR, Towns

Fork and Spoon ringEmpanada Boy and I returned from a trip to Portland yesterday at a new stage in our relationship. While we were out on a walk in Cannon Beach last week, he asked me to marry him. I was completely surprised and a bit scared by the notion, but the thought of sharing my future trials, achievements, travels and meals with anyone else just doesn’t seem right. In short, I accepted his proposal with the condition that we would wait a couple of years before actually going through the ceremony.

It will take me at least that long to get used to the idea of being married. (It has taken me a week just to decide to write this post.) The ring pictured here is the one he used when he asked me. And no— he did not get down on one knee. We were standing in a tide pool after all. So, dear readers raise a glass to the successful future of The Mango Lassie and her Empanada Boy!

    Dear Mango Lassie,

I’m a long-time reader of your blog, and I have to say that from my objective third-party perspective this is your best post ever. Clearly, Empanada Boy is a delectable dish and his high level of service places him among the finest in the business. But he’s equally fortunate to have found such a exquisite delicacy such as yourself. Here’s to many years of gastronomic happiness.

    My congratulations to you both.

p.s. Good call re: the long engagement. That’s the way to go…

My best wishes for a fulfilling, pun intended, life!

I highly recommend you consider the Cannon Beach locale for your wedding. We think it’s the best – and you and EB have plenty of time to pray for sun and plan the menu.

Tofuti Cutie and I are absolutely thrilled to receive this news! The recipe is ideal, the ingredients are a perfect blend, and the preparation is proceeding with proper care and timing. Although our anticipation now continues for another several years, I’m sure the feast and fest will be worth the wait. Our compliments to the chefs!

Congrats. Lynn & Debbie’s wedding on the Cannon Beach dunes was a total success. The clouds parted for their ceremony and now it’s raining again. And the Wayfarer’s catering was pretty good too. We enjoyed the leftovers for dinner
