The Mango Lassie

Welcome from the Mango Lassie

October 23, 2006 · Filed under Uncategorized

The Mango Lassie is a blog about finding and sampling food that is delicious, unique and distinctive without being expensive. I define expensive as being more than around $12 for an entree. Of course, many of the eateries featured on this blog (i.e. roadside stands, ice cream shops) won’t even serve entrees, but let’s just say, I know expensive when I see it.

In my quest to sample the specialties of as many culinary gems as possible, there is no group more useful, than you, readers, for pointing out new places and suggesting your favorites. So please, feel free to offer up your favorite cheap eats or the ones you’ve always wanted to try. I have no dietary restrictions and will try anything at least once. If I give opinions you don’t agree with, write back and tell me what you think.

Thanks for reading, and happy eating to all.

    Dear Mango Lassie,

Never having stayed in the midwest for more than three weeks I can say that I had been to 2 of the places in Chicago. Uno and remember waiting a very long time. The Pizza I did not think was worth the wait but would love the chance to try it again.

Crab season has arrived in San Francisco and I invite you all to taste our incredible west coast crab.

    Mushrooms abound out here too.

I invite you to do some foodtasting in San Francisco..

    Cheers.

    The Mushroom Maven!

    Mushroom Maven,

I’m sorry your experience at Uno wasn’t up to snuff. It can definitely seem unworthy after such a long wait. It also takes a while to learn that deep dish pizza simply cannot be compared to other wonderful pizzas you’ve had— it is an entirely different entity.

Which of the other restaurants had you visited? I look forward to finding more undiscovered places in Chicago, so maybe I can tempt you and your Mushroom Mister to come out for a visit.

I will start making plans to come out to San Francisco. I know there are countless food finds to be discovered, and there is no one I’d rather have as my guide than you, Mushroom Maven.

    See you soon!
